Explore Our Community ImpactOur story and purpose
Why we exist
We were established in response to a clear need: many people in our communities face loneliness, unfamiliar systems and barriers to opportunity, and do not always know where to turn.
Our purpose is to offer a welcoming, trustworthy presence, helping people connect with others, find accurate information and build the confidence to take part fully in community life.
Our mission
What we set out to do
To support individuals, families and vulnerable communities through social inclusion, community wellbeing, companionship, practical assistance, skills development and outreach, helping people feel connected, informed and empowered.
Our vision
Where we hope to be
Inclusive, connected communities across Luton and Bedfordshire in which people of every age and background feel they belong, can access the support they need and have genuine opportunities to flourish.
Our core values
The principles behind our work
Compassion
We meet every person with kindness, patience and genuine care.
Respect
We honour each individual's dignity, culture, choices and lived experience.
Inclusion
We work to remove barriers so that everyone can take part and belong.
Empowerment
We help people build the confidence and knowledge to shape their own lives.
Integrity
We act honestly, transparently and responsibly in all that we do.
Community Partnership
We believe lasting change comes from working together with others.
Our commitment to community interest
As a Community Interest Company, our activities are carried out for the benefit of the community. Any surplus we generate is intended to be reinvested in our purpose, and our assets are protected for community use. We report annually on how our work benefits the community, as required of all CICs.
Our approach to supporting individuals
We take a person-centred approach. We listen carefully, respect each person's choices and circumstances, and focus on strengths rather than deficits. Where people need specialist help, we signpost them to appropriate organisations rather than acting outside our remit.
Equality, diversity and inclusion
We welcome people of all ages, ethnicities, faiths, nationalities, genders, sexual orientations and abilities. We aim to make our activities accessible and culturally sensitive, and we actively challenge discrimination wherever we encounter it.
Governance and accountability
We are regulated by the Office of the Regulator of Community Interest Companies and registered with Companies House. Our directors are responsible for ensuring we act lawfully, transparently and in line with our community purpose, with appropriate policies on safeguarding, data protection and conduct.
Our community
Rooted in Luton and Bedfordshire
Luton is one of the most diverse towns in the United Kingdom, home to communities from across the world. This diversity is a great strength, and it also means that people arrive with very different experiences, needs and hopes.
We focus our work locally because we believe support is most effective when it understands the places, people and services around it.
Partnership and collaboration
Stronger together
No single organisation can meet every need. We are keen to work alongside local charities, community groups, faith organisations, public services and businesses that share our commitment to inclusion and wellbeing.
If your organisation would like to explore how we might work together, we would welcome a conversation.
